Tuchel Unveils England's 27-Man Nations League Squad; Alexander-Arnold, Palmer Back

England's Head Coach, Thomas Tuchel, has unveiled a 27-player roster for the initial four encounters of the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League. This selection sees the comeback of prominent players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer to the Three Lions' lineup.

Tuchel implemented eight modifications from the squad that participated in the previous World Cup. PUNCH Online reported the squad announcement on Friday, September 18, ahead of an extended international window slated from September 21 to October 6. Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold rejoins the national team, alongside his clubmate Jude Bellingham. Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is also included, having missed out on the 2026 World Cup squad. Several other players are making their return following the commencement of the new club season, namely Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lewis Hall, Rio Ngumoha, Jarrad Branthwaite, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Alex Scott.

England is set to commence their Nations League journey against the newly crowned world champions, Spain, at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, September 26. This Group A3 fixture is scheduled for a 7.45 pm BST kick-off. Subsequently, Tuchel’s side will journey to Prague to confront Czechia at the Fortuna Arena on Tuesday, September 29, with kick-off also at 7.45 pm BST.

The Three Lions will remain away from home for their third match of the window, facing Croatia in Rijeka on Saturday, October 3. This match, at the Stadium HNK Rijeka, will begin at 5 pm BST and will be contested behind closed doors due to a UEFA sanction. England will conclude this four-match international window by hosting Czechia at Wembley on Tuesday, October 6, with the game slated for 7.45 pm BST. The selected squad members are expected to convene at St George’s Park early next week to commence preparations for these four crucial fixtures.
