FRSC Deploys Nationwide Crackdown on Road Accidents with 12 Special Ops

In a bid to curb the rising incidence of road traffic crashes across the country, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has embarked on a nationwide special intervention patrol. The initiative, which commenced on July 20, involves the simultaneous execution of 12 specially designed operations by the Corps' Zonal Commands. Each operation is tailored to address the unique road safety challenges prevalent in different parts of the country. According to the FRSC, the operations range from Operation Fushin Zuma in Kaduna to Operation Ride Safe in Bauchi, Operation Shark Smile in Port Harcourt, Operation ABO in Lagos, Operation Sauka Lafia in Abuja, Operation Kasolayo in Ilorin, Operation Kwushi Ihe Mberede in Enugu, Operation Sanity in Osogbo, Operation Total Compliance in Benin, Operation Harbin Kunama in Yola, Operation Hadarin Kalangu in Jos, and Operation Daidaita Loading in Zone 10. The FRSC stated that the primary objective of these operations is to reduce road traffic crashes, save lives, and make Nigerian roads safer for all. The Corps' Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, explained that the Special Intervention Patrol is a strategic operational initiative aimed at enabling every Zonal Command to address its peculiar crash trends through intensive enforcement, public education, stakeholder engagement, and enhanced operational visibility. Osondu Ohaeri noted that the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the initiative as a decisive shift from conventional enforcement to targeted, intelligence-led operations capable of delivering greater impact. The operations will involve the massive deployment of personnel to highways, motor parks, loading points, and other critical corridors, complemented by sustained public enlightenment, stakeholder engagement, and close collaboration with sister security agencies to guarantee effective enforcement and rapid emergency response. The Corps Marshal warned motorists, commercial vehicle operators, and fleet owners to strictly comply with all traffic regulations, emphasizing that violators would face firm but professional enforcement in line with the Corps' statutory mandate.
