FCT Administration Pulls Down Buildings Blocking Waterways Post-Flood

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is currently undertaking an extensive exercise to remove illegal structures situated along water channels and erosion-prone areas within Abuja, the nation's capital. This ongoing operation follows a directive issued last week by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who mandated the clearance of such properties after the severe flooding experienced in the FCT on August 16.

That particular downpour resulted in significant inundation across several areas, including sections of Wuse 2 like Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent. The vicinity of Delight Event Centre in Gudu and the Efab estate in Lokogoma also saw substantial flooding. Vehicles became submerged, and the crucial bridge connecting Gaduwa and Durumi was rendered impassable by the high water levels, consequently stranding drivers and severely impeding traffic flow.
