Muslim Father Breaks Tradition, Welcomes All Faiths for Daughter's Hand

A Nigerian Muslim man, Taoheed Abdulwasiu Mustapha, has declared an open invitation for any suitor interested in marrying his daughter, irrespective of their religious background. Mustapha shared this unconventional stance in a Facebook post dated Friday, June 26, 2026. His primary conditions for potential husbands are that they must hail from respectable families, possess good character, and demonstrate a stable means of livelihood.
Abdulwasiu articulated that his core values are anchored in humanity, and he firmly rejects any religious interpretation that promotes hatred or discrimination based on differing faiths. He explicitly stated, "If you're a Christian or a traditional believer and you're interested in asking for my daughter's hand in marriage, you're welcome to come forward." He further assured, "As long as you come from a good family, have good character, and have a decent means of livelihood, you have my respect. I will support you."
Emphasizing his position, Mustapha declared, "I'm a Muslim, but humanity is at the core of my values. I refuse to embrace any interpretation of religion that teaches me to hate, despise, or attack people simply because they follow a different faith." He highlighted international relations as an example, remarking, "Saudi Arabia eats and dine with Israel and America....What's your own problem...? Nonsense."
He reiterated his guiding principle: "To me, humanity comes before religious differences." Addressing potential critics, Abdulwasiu boldly stated, "If my way of life doesn't sit well with you, that's your choice. Go and hug the transformer.." He concluded with a defiant message, asserting that "no amount of criticism or threat to life will change my belief in treating people with dignity and respect. Africa, Wake Up."
