Adeleke's 2027 Stance: Accord Legislative Candidates Backed, Tinubu Re-election Separate

Full Story
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared his unwavering backing for Accord Party candidates contesting the 2027 legislative polls. This declaration comes even as he participates in a multi-party alliance, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), formed to ensure President Bola Tinubu's re-election.
Adeleke clarified that this political collaboration is exclusively focused on Tinubu's presidential bid in January 2027 and does not encompass contests for the Senate, House of Representatives, or state Houses of Assembly. The Osun helmsman made this known via his official X account on Friday, shortly after the launch of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council dedicated to Tinubu's second-term ambition.
He stated, “My support for all Accord candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly remains unshaken.”
According to Adeleke, the 'rainbow coalition,' which includes Accord, APC, and PDP, is singularly focused on securing President Tinubu's second term. He further emphasized the coalition's commitment to surpassing the previously pledged 1.5 million votes for the President within Osun State.
In related political developments, a PDP chieftain has reportedly urged Governor Makinde to highlight his accomplishments ahead of 2027. Senator Umahi commented that Peter Obi could never be considered the South-East's best. Additionally, Gbajabiamila confirmed that 24 state assemblies have approved the state police amendment.
Adeleke reiterated: “Our rainbow coalition of Accord, APC and PDP is united solely for President Tinubu’s re-election in the January 2027 presidential election. This partnership does not extend to the legislative elections.”
Addressing the ongoing local government crisis in Osun State, Governor Adeleke indicated that negotiations have reached an advanced stage. He also mentioned receiving assurances from the Federal Government regarding impending positive resolutions. Adeleke quoted, “On the Osun local government crisis, negotiations are at an advanced stage. I have received the assurance of the Federal Government, and there will be positive developments soon.”
Furthermore, the governor implored political stakeholders to set aside their differences and foster unity, emphasizing the nation's critical juncture which necessitates collective cooperation. He concluded by stating, “These are critical times that demand unity beyond political differences. From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future.”
