Dele Momodu Knocks Wike Over PDP Primary Loss, Hails Atiku's Discipline

Full Story
Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recently criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, regarding his apparent continued dissatisfaction with the results of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2022 presidential primary election.
During an interview on Channels Television’s 'Politics Today' program on Thursday night, October 22, Momodu drew a distinction between how Wike reacted to not securing the ticket and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s disciplined political approach. He specifically praised Atiku as a leader who is both focused and tolerant.
Momodu stated, “Atiku Abubakar has been the most focused candidate since his name appeared for the presidential race in 1993. He was persuaded to step down for Chief MKO Abiola and he did without setting the roof on fire. We know of some people who did not get the candidacy four years ago, until today, they are still inconsolable.”
Momodu characterized Atiku as a composed politician who has consistently embraced internal democratic processes. He further highlighted that the former vice president neither behaves like a dictator nor uses governmental authority to exert control over others.
He continued by quoting, “Atiku has always been a man of cool mien. He's always as cool as the cucumber. He has never stopped anyone from contesting against him. He has never been a dictator. He left power in 2007, and he's been managing his life. He does not control any state.”
For the forthcoming 2027 presidential election, Momodu asserted that Atiku remains the most qualified contender among the prominent personalities currently positioning themselves. He drew a comparison between Atiku’s qualifications and those of President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Momodu observed, “Bola Tinubu came; his best credential was being the former governor of Lagos State. Atiku came; his best credential was being the former vice president of Nigeria. Peter Obi came; his best credential was being the governor of Anambra State.”
He also highlighted that President Tinubu acknowledges Atiku’s significant political influence, reminding listeners that Tinubu had, in the past, extended an invitation to Atiku to collaborate in previous political alliances.
