Adamawa's Fufore LG Chairman Yahya Saidu Passes Away Three Months Post-Inauguration

The chairman of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Yahya Saidu, has tragically passed away in a Kaduna hospital, barely three months after his swearing-in. News of his demise was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday by the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), which expressed profound sorrow over the loss.

Titus Obadiah, the state ALGON chairman, eulogized Saidu as a dedicated and committed leader whose contributions to Fufore and the broader Adamawa State community would be greatly missed. Obadiah conveyed his heartfelt condolences, stating, "It is with a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty God that I received the sad news of the passing of the executive chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, Dr. Yahaya Saidu." He further emphasized that Saidu's death represents a significant loss not only to his immediate family but also to his constituents and the entire state.

Continuing his tribute, Obadiah added, "Dr Yahaya Saidu was a committed leader who gave his best in service to his people. My heart goes out to his family, friends, associates, and the good people of Fufore Local Government Area during this very difficult time." He concluded by offering prayers for strength and comfort to the bereaved family and the residents of Fufore during this period of grief.

Dr. Yahya Saidu was inaugurated as the chairman of the Fufore council on July 15, 2026, having been elected under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His untimely death sadly mirrors that of his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, who also died while in office on April 23, 2025.
