Court Victory: Ondo APC's Arobo Calls for Party Unity Ahead of 2027 Polls

Full Story
Ghani Arobo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in Ondo State, has appealed to disgruntled members of the party to rally behind his candidature as the 2027 general elections draw closer. This appeal comes after a recent judicial affirmation of his position. The Court of Appeal in Abuja recently affirmed a prior Federal High Court decision, which had earlier confirmed Arobo as the legitimate APC candidate for the constituency and instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to acknowledge him as such.
Speaking through a statement released on Saturday by his Director of Publicity and Public Engagement, Ojo Eniafe, Arobo stated that the court's verdict should serve as a catalyst for healing and rapprochement, instead of exacerbating existing rifts within the party. He characterized the ruling as an impetus for introspection and collaborative advancement, emphasizing that political rivalries should not hinder party faithful from cooperating.
Arobo conveyed his sentiments, saying, “This victory calls not merely for celebration, but for reflection, statesmanship, reconciliation, and a renewed determination to build a stronger, more united Owo-Ose Federal Constituency. The true measure of victory lies not in the defeat of others, but in our collective ability to transform democratic outcomes into meaningful progress for the people we are privileged to serve. ”He added, “For us, we recognise there is no victory, no vanquish. Every aspirant who participated in this journey brought ambition, conviction, sacrifice, and a genuine desire to contribute to the future of our constituency. We acknowledge and deeply respect the aspirations of all contenders, including their right to explore every lawful avenue of appeal. “Such rights are fundamental to our democracy and deserve to be respected with dignity, restraint, and mutual understanding. ”Arobo further stressed, “Our hands remain extended in fellowship, and our hearts remain open to genuine reconciliation. We harbour no animosity, seek no vendetta, and celebrate no division. Political competition must never become a permanent barrier to friendship, collective progress, or the common destiny that binds the people of Owo-Ose together.”
Furthermore, the APC aspirant extended an appeal to all party leaders and members, specifically mentioning the current representative for the constituency, Timehin Adelegbe, to lend their support to the party as the elections approach. He implored fellow aspirants, young people, women, elders, and other key stakeholders to collaborate in enhancing representation and tackling the various needs of the constituents.
Arobo outlined key areas of focus, which he believes should encompass creating economic opportunities, fostering rural development, upgrading infrastructure, empowering the youth, and advancing agriculture. He articulated, ”The task ahead is greater than any individual ambition. It demands courage in leadership, wisdom in decision-making, unity in purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of our constituents. “He concluded by stating, “We must channel our energies towards effective representation, economic opportunities, rural development, improved infrastructure, youth empowerment, agricultural advancement, and a future in which every community feels seen, heard, and served.”
