The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria's South-West geopolitical zone has extended commendation to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, for his various programmes aimed at fostering the growth and development of young Nigerians. Adesuyi Daramola, who serves as the APC South-West Youth Leader, articulated the youths' profound appreciation for the revered monarch's “sustained commitment to youth empowerment, economic development and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.”
These remarks were part of a statement released by Remilekun Oyelowo, the Media and Publicity Director for the Office of the APC South-West Youth Leader, which was made available to the press in Ado Ekiti on Friday. Daramola's comments were delivered while he was felicitating with the traditional ruler during the 2026 Olojo Festival celebrations in Ile-Ife. Daramola described the Ooni as “a father figure and a monarch who has consistently demonstrated genuine concern for the welfare and aspirations of young Nigerians, particularly youths across the South-West.”
He further elaborated on the Ooni's positive impact, stating that “The Ooni’s various initiatives and investments have supported entrepreneurship, created economic opportunities and contributed to job creation, thereby providing young Nigerians with platforms to improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to society.”
The APC South-West Youth Leader also praised the monarch for his consistent “advocacy for responsible leadership, particularly his call on political leaders to place the welfare and interests of citizens above personal and political considerations.” Daramola stressed the timeliness and importance of this message, adding that “Responsive leadership and an enabling environment are essential to achieving sustainable national development.”
Daramola characterized the Olojo Festival as “a significant celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Ile-Ife and the Yoruba people. Its enduring message of thanksgiving, hope, renewal and unity transcends cultural boundaries and provides an opportunity for reflection on values that promote peace and social cohesion.” He used the occasion to encourage Nigerian youths to uphold peace, remain productive, and stay dedicated to community development, urging them to embrace legitimate avenues to contribute positively to the progress of their communities and the nation.
Concluding his address, Daramola conveyed his warmest wishes to the populace of Ile-Ife and all Nigerians participating in the Olojo Festival, offering prayers for peace, prosperity, and enduring development across the country.
