Afrobeats superstar Davido has publicly dared Nigerian politicians to transparently disclose the sources of their wealth. This challenge from the popular musician follows an instance where Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, openly discussed his business background and financial history.

Davido's reaction was prompted by a social media post from journalist Rufai Oseni. Oseni had shared a video clip from an interview featuring Obi, where the former governor elaborated on his journey in business and his financial standing before venturing into politics. Rufai’s post questioned, “Can every Nigerian politician tell us how they made their money like this?” To this, Davido responded directly, stating, “None of them can try it,” implying that other political figures would be unwilling or unable to provide similar explanations.

In the interview cited, Peter Obi detailed his successful career in the business sector prior to his political engagements. He highlighted his involvement with various international brands and his stakes in several banks. Furthermore, Obi addressed inquiries concerning his wealth and offshore assets that had been linked to the Pandora Papers, firmly asserting that his financial prosperity was established long before he entered public service. He also mentioned that his foray into politics had resulted in a personal financial decline, though he maintained that he held no regrets about serving the public.
