Ondo Central Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire Backs Tinubu for 2027 Second Term

As political campaigns begin to gather momentum across the nation, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, representing the Ondo Central Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Tinubu for a second term. He also called for support for other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections. Senator Adegbonmire, who is also the APC standard-bearer for his senatorial district, articulated this stance during an interview on Adaba FM in Akure on Thursday.

The federal lawmaker argued that the Tinubu administration warrants another term to build upon and complete the various citizen-focused projects it has initiated. He maintained that the President is diligently working to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians and address the country's challenges. According to Adegbonmire, the reforms being implemented by the Tinubu government should be perceived as long-term processes aimed at achieving sustainable solutions, rather than mere temporary fixes.

He stated, “I want to call on Nigerians, particularly the people of Ondo Central, to support President Bola Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates across all levels in the 2027 elections. The Renewed Hope administration needs continuity to consolidate the reforms and projects already underway. Things are being done in phases, but the President is building systems and institutions that will endure. For that reason, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves commendation for his courage and commitment.”

Senator Adegbonmire specifically pointed to substantial investments by the Tinubu administration in critical infrastructure and economic advancement. These include the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project, renewed focus on rail infrastructure, upgrades in airport facilities and aviation safety, and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which aims to provide financial aid to students in tertiary institutions.

He further commended the administration's efforts to enhance foreign exchange stability, noting that a more predictable exchange rate environment would enable manufacturers and importers to develop more robust, long-term business strategies. The senator also highlighted the growth of Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves, which he stated had surpassed $50 billion. He contended that “stronger reserves can help improve investors’ confidence and strengthen the country’s ability to withstand external economic pressures.”

Reflecting on his own performance within his first three years in the 10th National Assembly, Adegbonmire enumerated his focus areas as education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth development, empowerment, and human capital development. In his capacity as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, he affirmed his significant contributions to matters of justice, human rights, and the rule of law. He also mentioned sponsoring impactful bills designed to provide lasting benefits to his constituents and contribute to national development.

Among his facilitated projects, Adegbonmire listed educational interventions exceeding N800 million at Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure. Other projects include the construction of modern classroom facilities at St Helens Unity Secondary School, Ondo, and at Owobamibo, Ofosu, in Idanre Local Government Area, as well as the renovation of classrooms at St Thomas and St Andrew Primary School in Akure South Local Government Area.
