Governor Idris Establishes New Administrative District in Kebbi State

In a move aimed at bolstering traditional administration and enhancing governance at the grassroots level, Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has given his approval for the establishment of a new district. This development affects the Dandi Local Government Area, where eight village areas have been carved out to form the Buma District. As disclosed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi, the newly created district will be headed by Alhaji Salisu Hakimi. The district comprises the village areas of Tunga Rafi, Gamana, Tudunsan, Gillare, Bump Town, Goraro, Bukki, and Alfarma Kwara. Additionally, the governor has approved the appointment of Nasiru Umar Maizabo as the Village Head of Marafan Garin Haruna in the Tiggi District, Augie Local Government Area. These appointments and the creation of the new district are in line with the provisions of the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, specifically Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which empower the governor to create districts and appoint district heads. The commissioner has urged the newly appointed traditional rulers to conduct themselves with discipline, honesty, transparency, and dedication in the discharge of their duties, assuring them of the governor's and the ministry's support. This development is expected to strengthen traditional institutions and improve administrative efficiency at the local level.
