FCT Minister Wike Orders Immediate Closure of Defunct Committee's Secretariat

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has given a directive for the immediate shutdown of the secretariat of the Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses in the FCT, which was previously dissolved. This was made known through a statement released on Wednesday by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media. According to the statement, 'The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed that the Secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory be closed down with immediate effect.' Furthermore, the Minister has approved the establishment of a new division within the Department of Land Administration, which will now be responsible for handling all matters related to the sales of Federal Government Houses in the FCT. This division will take over the responsibilities that were previously handled by the now-defunct Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses. The secretariat had been retained after the committee completed its tasks in order to address any issues that arose from its activities. However, with the formal closure of the secretariat, the public is advised to direct all inquiries and issues regarding the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT to the Department of Land Administration. The FCT Administration also warned the public to be cautious of fraudsters who may pose as staff or members of the defunct committee or its secretariat, as they are no longer in operation. The administration urged the public to be mindful of the activities of these fraudsters, who may try to impersonate staff or officers of the defunct committee or its secretariat.
