The Osun State Police Command has issued an invitation to Senator Francis Fadahunsi to provide clarification on his alleged remarks, which appear to have directed supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take violent action against members of the rival Accord Party. This development comes ahead of the state's governorship election, scheduled for August 15. A video circulating on social media captured the senator, who represents Osun East, making the contentious comments in Yoruba during an APC campaign event in Ilesa on Tuesday. The police invitation, dated August 11, 2026, and signed by Commissioner of Police, Elections, Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, requested Fadahunsi to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo by 11 am on Wednesday, August 12. According to the letter, the police action was prompted by information suggesting that Fadahunsi's statements were 'threatening, inciting, and intimidating,' and had been widely disseminated across various electronic and social media platforms. However, Fadahunsi has disputed the allegations, claiming that his comment was taken out of context and that the video in question is artificially generated using AI technology.
