Taofeek Adegoke, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Oyo State, sparked widespread discussion on Tuesday after a video showing him sharing boiled corn with his supporters along a roadside went viral. The trending footage captured Adegoke personally dishing out corn from a large pot to a crowd of enthusiastic backers.

Amidst chants of 'Mr Governor' and other supportive slogans, his followers vied to receive the corn directly from the gubernatorial aspirant. Many in the throng insisted on getting their share directly from Adegoke, perceiving the act as a special blessing, as they reached out to him through the crowd.

The circulating video quickly garnered numerous reactions across social media platforms. While many of the ADC candidate's supporters praised his humility and approachability, others were quick to point out that such public displays are typical campaign tactics employed by politicians aiming to connect with the populace.

In Nigeria, politicians frequently engage in public demonstrations of humility during election campaigns. It's a common sight to see candidates from various parties dining at local eateries, shopping in open markets, using commercial bikes and tricycles, attending community gatherings, and participating in other daily activities, all designed to foster a sense of closeness with voters.
