PFN President, Bishop Wale Oke, Vows to Defy New Law Banning Preaching in Commercial Buses

The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Wale Oke, has strongly condemned the recent passage of a law by the Nigerian Senate that imposes a penalty of N50,000 on individuals who preach in commercial buses. This law is part of the amended Federal Road Safety Corps Act, which awaits President Tinubu's assent. Bishop Oke, while preaching at his church, expressed his dissatisfaction with the law, stating that the government should be prepared to arrest many Christians, including himself, as they will not obey this law. He emphasized that their master, Jesus Christ, has instructed them to spread the gospel to all creatures, and they will not be deterred by such laws. The cleric criticized the government for targeting preachers while failing to address more serious issues such as kidnapping, rape, and banditry. He questioned the government's priorities, asking why they are not going after those who commit heinous crimes instead of focusing on people who are spreading messages of peace. Bishop Oke further stated that those who are promoting this law will face God's judgment unless they repent. He reiterated that Christians will continue to preach the gospel, regardless of the laws in place, as they are obedient to God rather than man.
