Makinde Tops Opposition Presidential Candidate List for 2027

The Allied People's Movement in Lagos State has thrown its weight behind Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as the most suitable presidential candidate for the opposition coalition in the 2027 general elections. According to the party's State Publicity Secretary, Ayodele Kazeem, Makinde's leadership qualities, competence, and national acceptability make him the ideal candidate to unite the opposition and provide a credible alternative to Nigerians. Kazeem stated that the party's position is based on Makinde's governance style, performance, and leadership record, rather than political sentiment or convenience. He noted that Makinde has built a reputation as a leader who governs with prudence, transparency, and measurable results, and has recorded significant investments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and security in Oyo State. The APM spokesperson also highlighted Makinde's ability to manage public resources responsibly, drive development through planning, and deliver visible projects while maintaining fiscal discipline. Kazeem emphasized that Makinde's calm disposition, listening ability, and consensus-building approach are exactly what Nigeria needs after years of political tension and division. He added that Makinde possesses the temperament and credibility to attract support across Nigeria, and represents generational leadership with executive experience and a deep understanding of both the private and public sectors. The APM has pledged to play a strategic role in mobilizing support for the opposition coalition in Lagos State, with its governorship candidate, Prince Laja Adeoye, activating a robust grassroots mobilization framework to contribute over five million votes to the coalition's presidential victory.
