Former Bauchi Rep Aminu Danmaliki Jumps Ship to Peoples Redemption Party

In a significant move ahead of the 2027 general elections, Aminu Danmaliki, a former member of the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress to join the Peoples Redemption Party. This decision was announced by Danmaliki during a press briefing on Saturday, where he emphasized that his move was guided by principle rather than political convenience. He stated, 'Today is not simply about changing political parties. It is about choosing principles over convenience. It is about choosing conviction over comfort. It is about choosing the people over power.' Danmaliki, who has been active in politics since 2003 and represented Bauchi Federal Constituency, maintained that he left the APC without any resentment but with the conviction that leadership must prioritize the needs of ordinary Nigerians. He expressed his commitment to the PRP, describing it as a party founded on social justice, accountability, quality education, affordable healthcare, rural development, and economic opportunities. Danmaliki also highlighted the economic challenges facing the country, noting that millions of Nigerians are struggling with hunger, unemployment, poor healthcare, and a lack of educational opportunities. He believes that the PRP's ideals are relevant to Nigeria's current realities. Speaking about Bauchi State, Danmaliki noted that the state is rich in agricultural, mineral, and human resources but has been hindered by poor leadership and inconsistent implementation of people-oriented policies. He expressed his support for Senator Shehu Buba, who will be flying the PRP flag in the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election, describing him as 'a man of courage, vision, and commitment.' Danmaliki called on various groups, including youths, women, farmers, artisans, traders, professionals, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, to support the PRP and urged politicians to focus on issue-based campaigns rather than divisive politics. He remains optimistic that with honest leadership, prudent management of resources, and people-centered governance, Bauchi State and Nigeria can overcome poverty and achieve sustainable development.
