Nigeria's Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has indicated that President Bola Tinubu is set to unveil an upward review of salaries for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. According to a release from his media aide, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the minister highlighted this initiative as a component of the Federal Government's ongoing dedication to enhancing the well-being of service personnel and acknowledging their significant contributions to the country.

General Musa also referenced past advancements in welfare, noting that during his time as Chief of Defence Staff, military remuneration saw a successful increase from ₦49,000 to ₦100,000. He further emphasized that concrete measures are presently being implemented to secure a more substantial compensation structure for the nation's troops.

“I want to state here that a few weeks ago, I mentioned that soldiers are now receiving N100,000. When I was Chief of Defence Staff, soldiers were receiving N49,000. About two years ago, I pushed for an increase to N100,000, and that was achieved. We are, however, making further efforts to increase it again,” the Minister was quoted as saying, reiterating the government's commitment to improving military welfare.
