Delta State Greenlights N22.69bn Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road Upgrade

The Delta State Government has given its nod for the reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road, allocating a substantial N22.69 billion for the project. This significant investment is part of the state’s broader strategy to enhance its road infrastructure and stimulate economic activities across Delta.
The approval was officially granted during the 14th meeting of the Delta State Tenders Board for the year 2026. The meeting took place on Tuesday at the Conference Hall located within the Office of the Deputy Governor, Government House, Asaba.
The extensive project involves the comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road. The route stretches from the Warri–Port Harcourt Expressway at the ECN Junction, extending all the way to the DSC Expressway at Udu Road Junction, and includes a vital spur that leads to Otor-Udu. This critical road network spans parts of both Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas and will be overseen by the Ministry of Works, specifically its Highways and Urban Roads department.
Following the meeting, Izeze Reuben, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), addressed the press. He reiterated the state's unwavering commitment to improving road infrastructure throughout Delta. Reuben highlighted that the project is expected to significantly boost connectivity between various communities, ease the movement of both people and goods, and provide crucial support for commercial and economic ventures in the areas it covers. He further explained that this reconstruction aligns perfectly with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which is focused on delivering robust and durable infrastructure to elevate the living standards of the state's residents. The commissioner expressed strong confidence that once completed, the project would lead to reduced travel times, enhance overall transportation efficiency, and contribute substantially to the socio-economic development of all communities situated along the improved corridor.
