Ekiti Governorship: Oluyede Boasts of Victory Ahead of June 20 Poll

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has expressed confidence in his ability to emerge victorious in the forthcoming June 20 election. According to a statement released by the Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation, through its Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti, the candidate urged voters to resist attempts by the All Progressives Congress to influence their decisions through election-season incentives. The campaign organisation stated that the June 20 governorship election presents an opportunity for the people of Ekiti to remove the current government, which it described as 'heartless.' The organisation noted that Dr Oluyede's administration would usher in a new era of development and progress in the state if elected. The statement further criticized the current administration, led by Governor Oyebanji, for failing to deliver on its promises despite receiving huge allocations from the Federal Government. The campaign organisation queried the completion of the Ado Ekiti flyover, which took about four years, and described the Oyebanji administration's last-minute empowerment programmes and payments as a desperate attempt to sway voters. The organisation also disagreed with the statement made by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the inauguration of the Ado Ekiti flyover, where he praised the governor's performance and deserved re-election. Adelusi stated that the Oyebanji administration has failed to justify the huge allocations received from the Federal Government, and its policies and actions have impoverished many Ekiti residents.
