Ogun Motorcycle Riders Urged to Prioritise Safety, Avoid Night Operations

Following his re-election as the Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, Taofeek Sokoya, also known as Danku, has emphasized the importance of safety and vigilance among motorcycle riders in the state. Sokoya, who was recently inaugurated for a second term, advised riders to be cautious and avoid operating at night, particularly between 8pm and 9pm. He attributed the need for this warning to the prevailing insecurity in the state, stating that while the government and security agencies are working to address the challenge, it is essential for riders to be security conscious. The AMORAN chairman commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his efforts in developing the state's infrastructure, especially in the road and transportation sectors, over the past seven years. Sokoya described Abiodun as a 'loving father and leader of purpose' who has set a high standard for leadership in the state. The Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, represented by Engr. Babatunde Omisakin, praised AMORAN for its operational efficiency and consistent support for the state government's transportation policies. Dairo attributed the union's stability and achievements to Sokoya's exemplary leadership. The Ogun State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, encouraged members to maintain unity, discipline, and collective progress, while urging the new executives to harness their numerical strength to speak with one voice in truth and unity. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several stakeholders from the transportation and labour sectors, including the Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycle Organisation, Rasak Olusola Sotayo, and a former AMORAN Chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle. Sokoya expressed gratitude to members for re-electing him and promised to devote his new tenure to taking the union to greater heights.
