Twenty-one years after the infamous Apo Six killings, Linda Ikeji Media is set to release a new film, 'The Night of June 7th', which delves into the events of that fateful night. The movie, written and produced by Linda Ikeji and directed by Toka Mcbaror, is a powerful retelling of the extrajudicial killing of six young Nigerians in Apo, Abuja, in 2005. This incident sparked widespread outrage, protests, and a landmark court judgment that saw two police officers sentenced to death. According to Linda Ikeji, 'This is the film Nigeria has waited twenty-one years for. Six young people went out one night and never came home, and this country has never stopped asking why. The Night of June 7th is not just a film. It is a reckoning, and it belongs to every Nigerian who refused to forget.' Director Toka Mcbaror noted that the team approached the story with the weight it deserves, adding that 'our responsibility was to the truth of that night and to the memory of the six. Audiences should come prepared to feel everything.' The film boasts a talented cast, including Gideon Okeke, Femi Branch, Ali Nuhu, and Charles Lenny. 'The Night of June 7th' will be released exclusively in cinemas nationwide on August 28, 2026, and will be distributed by Nile Distribution.
