Wande Coal: God, Not Don Jazzy, Orchestrated My Music Career Success

Popular Nigerian singer, Wande Coal, has recently stated that his remarkable achievements in the music industry are a direct result of divine intervention, rather than solely the efforts of music executive Don Jazzy. The acclaimed artist articulated this perspective during a conversation with Channels Television, acknowledging the collaborative talent he shared with his former record label boss but ultimately attributing his career's trajectory to God.

"God is the reason for my success. I give all the credits to him because he was the one who brought me out and made me successful," Wande Coal conveyed during the interview.

He further addressed the prevalent narrative suggesting that Don Jazzy was singularly responsible for discovering and elevating him to stardom. "Some people say it was Don Jazzy that brought me out but I feel like it was just two talented people working together to achieve success. So, it’s not by one man. It’s God," he clarified, emphasizing a shared journey and divine guidance.

Wande Coal's entry into the professional music scene began in 2006 when he was spotted by Don Jazzy and D'banj. The duo encountered him performing at a campus event held at the University of Lagos and were impressed. Following this meeting, he was promptly signed to their then-fledgling Mo’ Hits record label the very next day.

After the dissolution of Mo’ Hits Records in 2012, which saw Don Jazzy and D'banj part ways, Wande Coal subsequently joined Don Jazzy’s new venture, Mavin Records. However, his tenure at Mavin was brief, as he departed in 2013 to establish his own independent label, Black Diamond Entertainment.

A tweet from Proper9ja Boy on August 23, 2026, also captured Wande Coal reiterating his stance: "People would say it's Don Jazzy that brought me out and made me but I don't see it like that. All i see is two magical people coming together and progressing. It's not a one Man thing. It's God all along."
