Plateau Community Raid: Troops Repel Bandits, Elderly Resident Dies

Troops operating under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) successfully fended off an assault by suspected armed Fulani bandits on Jebbu Miango community, located in Plateau State's Bassa Local Government Area. Military sources confirmed that the incident unfolded around 12:10 a.m. on June 29, 2026. Personnel from Sector 3 were deployed swiftly after receiving reports of gunfire from alleged armed militias within the community.
The forces quickly mobilized to the scene, engaging the assailants and compelling them to retreat into the surrounding highland terrain. Following the withdrawal of the attackers, a thorough search of Jebbu Miango led to the grim discovery of a 74-year-old resident, Mr. Baba Den, whose death is attributed to the attack.
In the aftermath, the troops initiated extensive offensive operations and domination patrols across the affected zone. This measure is intended to disrupt any potential regrouping by the attackers and to avert further incidents in the community. The military assured that the security climate in the area remains stable, with ongoing efforts focused on tracking down the fleeing culprits. Local residents have been advised to maintain calm and continue to provide valuable intelligence to security agencies, aiding their ongoing operations.
