Tragedy Strikes in Jigawa as Teenager Loses Life in Pond Accident

In a devastating incident, a 15-year-old boy named Isah Muhammad lost his life in a pond located in Dutse, Jigawa State. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command disclosed the tragic event through its Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, in a statement released on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. According to the statement, the command received an urgent call regarding the drowning of the teenager at a pond known as Sterling Pond, situated along Disina Road. Immediately, personnel from the NSCDC's Takur Site Division rushed to the scene, retrieved the victim from the pond, and rushed him to the General Hospital in Dutse, where he was sadly confirmed dead. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, after the command received a distress call reporting the victim's drowning. Following the confirmation of death, the remains of the deceased were released to his family for burial, in accordance with Islamic customs. The State Commandant of NSCDC Jigawa State Command, Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for Allah to grant the departed eternal rest and give the family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
