Derek Chisora Opens Up on Using Medical Cannabis to Manage Chronic Pain

Renowned British boxer Derek Chisora has come forward to share his experience of using prescribed medical cannabis to alleviate chronic pain stemming from his 20-year career in the sport. Now 42 years old, Chisora explained that the years of intense physical exertion have taken a toll on his body, leaving him to deal with persistent pain from his knees to his hands. As he launches the WarOnPain platform, aimed at guiding millions of Britons who suffer from long-term pain to better understand the UK's legal medical cannabis system, Chisora emphasized that the issue goes beyond the realm of boxing. 'People are often privy to the excitement of the fights, the thrill of knockouts, and the entertainment aspect,' he noted. 'However, what they rarely see is the aftermath - the prolonged damage to the body, the arduous recovery process, and the daily struggle with pain.' Chisora highlighted that as one ages, the body's ability to recover quickly diminishes. Having spent over two decades in boxing, he now regularly grapples with chronic pain. 'This isn't about the recreational use of cannabis,' he clarified. 'It's about ensuring access to proper medical treatment in a safe and regulated manner.' Chisora's medical cannabis is administered through a dry herb vaporiser, as prescribed by a specialist clinician, and comes in a 10g dose pouch of dry cannabis herb flower with 27% THC and less than 1% CBD. The boxer's objective is not only to raise awareness but also to extend support to former athletes, military veterans, and others who silently endure physical and mental health issues. 'The scope of this issue extends far beyond the boxing world,' he added. 'I am aware of numerous former athletes, veterans, and individuals from all walks of life who are quietly struggling every day, both physically and mentally. Many of them feel as though they have exhausted all available options.'
