Newborn Baby Rescued by Yobe Police in Kallalawa Village

In a heartwarming rescue operation, the Yobe State Police Command has saved the life of a newborn baby girl who was abandoned in Kallalawa village, Damaturu. According to the command's spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the baby, estimated to be just one day old, was discovered by operatives attached to A Division, Damaturu, on May 25, 2026, at about 1500hrs. The infant was immediately rushed to the Special Baby Care Unit at the General Hospital in Damaturu, where doctors confirmed she was in stable condition. As disclosed in a statement by Abdulkarim, 'The child was thereafter handed over to the Social Welfare Department for proper care and protection, while an investigation has commenced to trace the mother and circumstances surrounding the abandonment.' The police are working tirelessly to unravel the mystery behind the baby's abandonment and to reunite her with her mother. The timely intervention of the police has been commended by many, as it has given the baby a chance at life.
