Hollywood Walk of Fame: Dolly Parton's Star Shines Anew Following Vandalism

Full Story
The iconic star dedicated to music legend Dolly Parton on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been fully repaired after it was subjected to vandalism. Following the singer's recent passing, images acquired by TMZ on Friday, September 4, confirmed that the star had been completely restored, with Parton's name now clearly visible once more. A distinctive turquoise butterfly now adorns the central medallion, surrounded by an array of flowers and other heartfelt tributes.
The butterfly holds deep personal significance for Parton, having served as a cherished symbol throughout her life and career, stemming from her profound connection to the natural world. She had often recounted how her fondness for butterflies blossomed during her childhood in Tennessee's Smoky Mountains, where she spent time chasing them.
This restoration comes after the star was defaced on Monday, August 31, when someone scratched out Parton's name. This act of vandalism occurred shortly after the beloved entertainer died at the age of 80, following a brief battle with cancer.
Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, had previously indicated that the repaired star required a three-day curing period before maintenance crews could finalize the polishing process on Friday morning. Martinez further clarified that Parton's family was not involved in making arrangements for the repairs nor were they responsible for the associated costs.
The Hollywood Historic Trust, a non-profit organization, bears the responsibility for the upkeep and restoration of all stars along the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame. The expenses for such repairs vary depending on the extent of the damage incurred. Notably, the Trust employs the same construction firm that originally crafted the stars to undertake any necessary restoration work. It was also revealed that Parton's star had already developed cracks prior to the vandalism incident and was, in fact, already slated for repairs.
