BBNaija S11 Kicks Off: Chimsom Chuka Becomes First Head of House Amidst New Twist

The inaugural Head of House title for the 11th season of Big Brother Naija has been claimed by Chimsom Chuka, an Anambra-born pharmacist and actor. This achievement grants him immunity from eviction for the current week, following his victory in the season's initial challenge. Big Brother announced Chimsom as the victor after he recorded the quickest time across all contestants in the Head of House task, which took place on Monday, marking the competition's first full day.

The challenge involved male housemates competing amongst themselves, while female contestants also engaged in separate contests. The top performers from both groups were then evaluated to determine the overall winner. Abi, a chef and model from Osun State, secured the position of Deputy Head of House after finishing second in the overall standings.

This season introduces a significant change from previous editions of the popular reality show: the Head of House winner no longer automatically resides in the luxurious Head of House loft. Instead, Big Brother unveiled a new twist, mandating Chimsom to select another housemate through a lucky dip to enjoy the exclusive living space. From a yellow lucky dip box, Chimsom picked Tram, who was immediately granted access to the Head of House loft for the week. Tram subsequently chose Sheba as his companion to share the apartment.

While Chimsom will not occupy the Head of House residence himself, he retains the primary benefit of the role: immunity from this week’s eviction. He also enjoys other leadership privileges and a special treat courtesy of Big Brother. This separation of immunity from the occupancy of the exclusive Head of House quarters represents one of the most notable twists introduced in the newly launched season.

Prior to entering the Big Brother house, the 27-year-old contestant described himself as an individual who maintains composure under pressure and expressed his intention to remain authentic throughout the show. "The biggest strength I have is being myself," Chimsom stated during his pre-show introduction, conveying his hope that viewers would connect with his genuine personality rather than a fabricated strategy for the game.

As of the time of this report, the housemates were actively participating in the nomination process, which will determine those facing potential eviction later in the week. The 24 contestants are vying for the grand prize of ₦160 million in this "Show Ya Sef" edition of the reality television programme.
