U.S. VP Vance: Naval Presence Halts Triple Fuel Price Hike

Full Story
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has asserted that without the continuous operations of the American Navy, gasoline prices in the United States would be three times their current rate. Vance highlighted the critical role of the U.S. fleet in securing the safe transit of oil and gas through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
While acknowledging the present high cost of fuel, Vance projected that prices would eventually decrease following the conclusion of the ongoing conflict involving the U.S. and Israel against Iran. As reported by The Express Tribune, he directly linked the current surge in fuel expenses to Iran's attempts to close the Strait of Hormuz and its alleged attacks on maritime tankers.
The Vice President underscored that the international community has not previously faced a situation where a single nation actively sought to entirely disrupt global energy supplies. He warned that any Iranian control over shipping routes through the vital strait would inevitably lead to significantly higher petrol costs for consumers.
Recent incidents near the strait include a report from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) detailing an attack on a southbound tugboat. The vessel was struck by two unidentified projectiles northeast of Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates, resulting in minor injuries to one crew member and damage to the boat, though it managed to continue its journey. In a separate account, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that two oil tankers, each carrying approximately two million barrels of crude oil, caught fire after reportedly hitting naval mines within the Strait of Hormuz.
