The upgrade of Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna, to a full-fledged federal university has drawn significant praise from Hon. Daniel Amos, the lawmaker representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Services Committee. He specifically commended Speaker Abbas Tajudeen for his instrumental role in initiating and championing the bill, which President Bola Tinubu recently signed into law.

The newly established institution will now be known as the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Kaduna, a change that effectively repeals the previous legislation governing the polytechnic. Speaking on Friday, Amos hailed this development as a historic milestone and a clear indication of dedicated leadership.

He highlighted Speaker Abbas's commitment, noting that despite the demanding responsibilities of his office, the Speaker prioritized and pursued this legislation, which he believes will greatly benefit Kaduna State and the entire nation. Amos stated, “Speaker Tajudeen’s leadership on this bill demonstrates purposeful commitment to education and national development.”

According to the lawmaker, the new Act is poised to revolutionize technical and vocational education, fostering skills acquisition and accelerating national progress. He also extended gratitude to President Tinubu for assenting to the bill, alongside a similar one establishing the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Yaba, Lagos. Both bills were sponsored by Speaker Abbas.

Amos described the presidential assent as concrete proof of President Tinubu's dedication to educational reform and human capital development, aligning perfectly with the administration’s 'Renewed Hope Agenda.' He further congratulated the citizens of Kaduna State, as well as the management, staff, and students of the erstwhile polytechnic.

The House of Representatives, he assured, remains committed to providing the necessary support for the seamless establishment and operation of the new university. This legislative move is anticipated to unlock increased federal funding, facilitate the expansion of degree programmes, bolster research capabilities, and ultimately enhance graduate employability within Kaduna State and its environs.
