Federal Government's NELFUND Loan Portal Open for LASU Students for 2026/2027 Session

The Lagos State University (LASU) has informed its students that applications for the 2026/2027 student loan scheme, managed by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), are now open. The university shared this important update on its official X handle this past Sunday. It encouraged all eligible students to seize this opportunity provided by the Federal Government and complete their applications well before the closing date of December 31, 2026.

According to the statement released by LASU, the application portal became active on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and will remain open until Thursday, December 31, 2026. For students to be considered, LASU outlined several key requirements: applicants must be currently registered students of the institution and possess valid Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration numbers, National Identification Numbers (NIN), and Bank Verification Numbers (BVN).

Furthermore, the university stressed the importance of ensuring that all personal academic details, including matriculation numbers, departmental information, and other institutional records, are accurately uploaded and up-to-date on the university's portal. Students are also required to verify the correctness of their JAMB details before proceeding with their loan applications.

The statement explicitly advised students to “strongly verify and update their institutional and JAMB records before proceeding with their applications on the NELFund portal.” This verification step is crucial to avoid any potential disqualifications or delays that might arise from inconsistencies or mismatches in their submitted data. For any student encountering difficulties with the verification or updating of their records, LASU directed them to the Directorate of ICT or Special Interventions for immediate assistance. The university reiterated its call for all qualified students to submit their applications within the specified timeframe.
