Details emerge: JAMB Unveils System for Candidates to Regain Lost SIM, Email Access

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a significant policy adjustment, enabling candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update these crucial details through a controlled and secure process. This revised policy was officially communicated by JAMB on Monday via its official X account, stating that the service commenced on September 21, 2026.

JAMB specified that this facility would be exclusively available at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, including relevant State Offices where applicable. The board clarified that this measure is specifically designed for applicants facing legitimate challenges in accessing their previously registered GSM numbers or email accounts.

To utilize this service, candidates will be required to undergo stringent identity and biometric verification procedures. JAMB emphasized this, stating, “Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification.”

The board strongly advised candidates to strictly use only the authorized JAMB centres for these updates and to avoid any unauthorized individuals or alternative channels. It further stressed, “For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels.”

This announcement is part of JAMB’s ongoing JCARE and JAMB Updates initiatives. Under this latest policy, eligible candidates now have the opportunity to update either their registered GSM number, their email address, or both, by visiting the designated centres. However, the board reiterated that this service remains a one-time provision and will always be contingent on thorough identity and biometric checks.
