Straight As in WASSCE Earns Edo Student N1m from Deputy Governor

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has recognized and rewarded academic brilliance by presenting a N1 million cash gift to Delight Amayaenvbo, a student from Edo who achieved excellent grades, scoring straight As in the recent West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Delight's remarkable academic feat captured the attention of the deputy governor, who hailed the accomplishment as a clear indication of hard work, discipline, and unwavering determination. A statement released on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, quoted the deputy governor as commending the young student for bringing pride to his family and the entire Edo State. Idahosa underscored the importance of fostering and celebrating academic excellence among the youth.

He clarified that the financial incentive was not solely to acknowledge Delight’s exceptional performance but also to motivate other young people in Edo State to prioritize their education and aim for distinction. Idahosa further advised students across the state to maintain focus on their studies, emphasizing that strong academic records can unlock numerous opportunities and contribute significantly to the state’s development.

“I am delighted to give Delight Amayaenvbo N1m cash gift for scoring straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination,” Idahosa stated. He reiterated, “The gesture was intended not only to reward Delight’s exceptional performance but also to inspire other Edo youths to take their education seriously and strive for excellence.”

Charity Amayaenvbo, Delight's father, conveyed his profound gratitude to the deputy governor for the generous gesture.
