UNIZIK Launches Probe into Alleged Lecturer Misconduct after Viral Video

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has initiated a thorough investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against one of its lecturers. This move comes after a video showing students physically assaulting a lecturer from the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Arts, went viral on social media. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, August 15, 2026, within the university premises, has sparked widespread outcry and calls for a comprehensive inquiry. In response, the university management expressed deep concern and condemned the use of violence, emphasizing the need for due process in handling such allegations. According to Aloysius Attah, the Director of Information and Public Relations, the university has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and harassment. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Anyaehie, has reiterated this stance, urging that allegations be addressed through established institutional channels. The matter is currently under review, with the university committed to ensuring justice is served fairly to all parties involved.
