Babcock University Graduate Christabel Ikegwuonu Shares Her Journey to Academic Success

Christabel Ikegwuonu, a 21-year-old graduate of Babcock University, has shared her inspiring story of how she achieved academic success despite initial setbacks. Ikegwuonu, who hails from Anambra State, grew up in Plateau State and was raised by parents who valued education. She initially applied to study Law at Babcock University but missed the cut-off mark. However, she was offered admission to study International Law and Diplomacy, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Ikegwuonu's academic journey was not without challenges, but she persevered and eventually graduated with a first-class degree. She credits her success to a change in mindset, which occurred after she reflected on her first-semester results. Ikegwuonu is not only an academic achiever but also a public speaker, civic engagement advocate, and founder of GenPolitik, a youth-led civic initiative. During her time at the university, she held various leadership positions, including chief auditor of the International Law and Diplomacy Students' Association and accountant general. Ikegwuonu's story is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. She improved her CGPA from 3.82 to 4.64, demonstrating her ability to overcome obstacles and achieve her goals. Ikegwuonu graduated in 2025 and is now an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (Nigeria). Her journey serves as an inspiration to young people, showing that with hard work and dedication, they can overcome any obstacle and achieve their dreams.
