Adamawa's Permanent NYSC Orientation Camp Set for Next Batch, Fintiri Affirms

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has given his assurance that the state’s newly constructed permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp will be fully operational for the upcoming batch of corps members. This commitment was made during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II corps members, which took place on Friday in Damare, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, Governor Fintiri highlighted that the construction of the new orientation facility is at an advanced stage. He expressed strong confidence that subsequent groups of corps members would commence their orientation activities at this new site. The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the well-being of youth corps members, guaranteeing the continued payment of a N30,000 monthly allowance to those serving within the state.

Furthermore, Fintiri emphasised the state government's ongoing support for the NYSC scheme, acknowledging the significant contributions made by corps members across various sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture. He advised the corps members to adhere to national laws and respect the cultural norms and traditions of their host communities. He also urged them to foster peaceful coexistence and actively contribute to the development of the areas where they are posted.

Mr. Wali Yakubu, who serves as both the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the Adamawa NYSC Governing Board, extended his congratulations to the newly mobilised corps members. Yakubu encouraged them to participate fully in all camp activities and to embrace the principle of unity in diversity by forging connections irrespective of cultural or religious backgrounds. He also called upon them to initiate community development projects aimed at enhancing the lives of residents in their assigned communities. Yakubu further guaranteed the state government’s unwavering support and commitment to ensuring a secure and conducive environment throughout their service year.

Earlier, Mrs. Caroline Chinedu, the NYSC Coordinator for Adamawa, reported that a total of 1,520 youth corps members had registered for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation exercise. She specified that this number comprised 779 males and 741 females, noting their commendable discipline and enthusiasm since the exercise began.

However, Chinedu appealed to the state government for urgent intervention regarding the persistent electricity challenges at the orientation camp. She explained that the reliance on generators has adversely affected critical services like water supply and sanitation within the camp premises.

The oath of allegiance was administered to the corps members by Justice Abbas Adamu, who represented Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, the Chief Judge of Adamawa. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that this ceremony officially marked the commencement of the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation course in Adamawa.
