WAEC Releases Guidelines for Checking 2026 WASSCE Results

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has made public the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination. Candidates can now access their results online by following a series of steps outlined by the council. To begin, each candidate must have their examination number, WAEC serial number, and WAEC PIN. For those who have misplaced these details, WAEC has provided a recovery process. This involves visiting the WAEC website, selecting the 'Serial Number and PIN' option, and then choosing the 2026 examination year and diet. The candidate must then enter their examination number and National Identification Number, NIN, used during registration, along with their email address and phone number to receive a One-Time Password, OTP. Upon entering the OTP, the candidate can recover their Serial Number and PIN. Additionally, candidates can download their WAEC ID card from the portal. To check results, candidates should visit the WAEC result portal, enter their examination number, select the examination year, choose the examination type, and input their Serial Number and PIN before submitting. Alternatively, results can be checked using the WAEC Result Checker app or via SMS. For the app, candidates download it from the Google Play Store, enter their examination number, select the examination year, input their Serial Number and PIN, and submit to view their result. For SMS, candidates send their examination number, PIN, and examination year to the designated WAEC SMS number. WAEC grades range from A1 to F9, with A1, B2, and B3 indicating distinction and merit, C4, C5, and C6 signifying credit passes, and D7 and E8 denoting ordinary passes. Generally, for admission into Nigerian universities, candidates are expected to have at least five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, with C6 being the minimum credit grade. Candidates who believe there is an error in their result can submit a complaint through WAEC's official channels or visit the nearest WAEC office for guidance on the result verification and review process.
