Adamawa NSCDC Cracks Down on 'Signed Out' Rituals Among Secondary School Graduates

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa State has taken a firm stance against the notorious 'signed out' celebrations among secondary school graduates. According to a statement by the command's Public Relations Officer, DSC Nyako Amidu Baba, 10 students were apprehended by the Safe School Response Squad for engaging in disruptive activities. These activities included painting their bodies, tearing school uniforms, and engaging in street fights, all of which are capable of breaching public peace and order. The Adamawa State Government had previously issued a directive banning the practice due to its potential to cause chaos. However, this year's celebrations took a more alarming turn, with some individuals allegedly disguising themselves as students to rob members of the public of their valuables. Upon arrest, it was discovered that one of the individuals was not a student, despite wearing a school uniform. Furthermore, some of those arrested were found to be in SS1 and SS2, contrary to the initial assumption that they were final-year students. The State Commandant, CC Nasiru Saleh, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter to identify all parties involved. The NSCDC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of students and the general public, and will not tolerate any activities that disrupt academic pursuits or threaten public safety. To this end, the command is working closely with school authorities to establish the identities of those involved and to strengthen preventive measures.
