Governor Namadi Cracks Down on Absenteeism in Jigawa State Secretariat

In a surprise move, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi paid an unannounced visit to the State Secretariat, where he found several top officials absent from their duty posts. The visit, which took place on Monday, was part of the governor's statewide oversight tour aimed at enhancing governance and public service delivery in the state. According to the governor's Special Assistant, Garba Muhammad, the inspection was designed to assess staff attendance, punctuality, and productivity in the workplace. Muhammad stated that the exercise reflected the administration's commitment to instilling discipline and accountability in the state's civil service. During the visit, Governor Namadi was seen walking through various ministries, opening office doors, and finding many workstations deserted, with only a few messengers and security personnel on duty. The governor later travelled to Ringim Local Government Area to condole with families affected by a recent boat accident in the area. He also inspected ongoing road projects and assessed the progress of key infrastructure projects, including hospitals and educational institutions. The governor's Special Assistant noted that the tour demonstrated Namadi's commitment to closely monitoring government programmes and accelerating development across the state. As part of his visit, the governor participated in funeral prayers for victims of the boat accident and paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Ringim. The inspection has sparked a renewed focus on discipline and accountability in the state's civil service, with the governor's administration pledging to promote an efficient public service.
