Wellspring University, situated in Benin, Edo State, has officially received the National Universities Commission's (NUC) endorsement to introduce five new undergraduate degree programs. The newly sanctioned courses include Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), as well as Bachelor of Science degrees in Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. Furthermore, the institution has gained approval for Bachelor of Health Information Management and Bachelor of Community Health Science.

The university's management confirmed the NUC's approval of these programs through a statement issued to The PUNCH on Tuesday. It was clarified that the commencement of these approved courses is slated for the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to the statement, "Wellspring University has reached another significant milestone with the approval of five new undergraduate health programmes by the National Universities Commission, following a successful resource verification exercise conducted by a panel of experts from the commission." The statement further emphasized that "This approval reinforces the university’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and national development. These new additions are expected to substantially enhance the university's capacity to train competent healthcare professionals. These graduates, in turn, are anticipated to play a vital role in improving the nation's healthcare delivery system and contributing significantly to its socio-economic advancement.

Prospective candidates keen on gaining admission into any of the approved programs are encouraged to contact the university’s admissions office or visit its official communication channels for comprehensive details concerning admission requirements and the application procedures for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year.
