NLC Sets October 27, 2026 Deadline for FG on Fuel Price, Minimum Wage

Full Story
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has presented a firm ultimatum to the Federal Government, stipulating that its key economic demands must be met by October 27, 2026. Failure to comply could trigger a comprehensive nationwide halt of economic activities across Nigeria.
The labour union's demands primarily include a significant reduction in the pump price of fuel and a thorough review of the national minimum wage. According to a statement attributed to Upah, a representative of the NLC, the union has clearly communicated to the Federal Government that workers' grievances must be addressed by the specified date. Upah reiterated that should the government fail to act on these crucial demands, the NLC is prepared to initiate a nationwide strike across the country.
