Edo Security Operatives Nab Man Over Dismembered Body, Missing Women in Uromi

Full Story
The Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) has apprehended a 49-year-old individual, Samson Ecater Igbinedion, in connection with the discovery of a dismembered female corpse in Uromi, located within the Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. Igbinedion, who resides in the Ewalo Quarters of the area, was taken into custody following intensive surveillance operations initiated due to numerous reports of missing persons in the community.
According to Richard Balogun, the Deputy Commander of Operations for the ESSC, the corps received intelligence about a suspected ritualist operating in the region after several women were reported missing. He further explained that the macabre discovery of a dismembered woman's body had earlier prompted the ESSC to launch its surveillance efforts.
Balogun recounted how, during their operations, "Our surveillance team spotted someone in a Toyota vehicle dumping a corpse in the area before driving away. When the operatives visited the scene, they discovered the dismembered body of a woman."
Following this lead, ESSC operatives successfully tracked down and arrested the suspect. The Toyota vehicle allegedly used in the incident was also recovered. Samson Ecater Igbinedion has since been transferred to the police for further comprehensive investigation. Balogun also confirmed that authorities are probing the disappearance of another woman, identified as Patience, from the Ewowo community. Patience reportedly traveled from Lagos to Benin City on October 1, 2026, but subsequently vanished, with all family and community efforts to locate her proving futile.
In light of these developments, Balogun urged residents to maintain peace, assuring them that the corps is committed to intensifying its operations to rid the state of criminal elements. He issued a stern warning to those involved in illicit activities, advising them to leave the state, as the ESSC would not permit them to operate without consequence.
