Chelsea Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez Undergoes Successful Jaw Operation

Full Story
Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that their first-choice goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, has successfully undergone a surgical procedure to address a fractured jaw. The injury was sustained during a head-on collision that occurred in the club's recent 2-0 triumph over Everton on Saturday.
Martinez suffered the fracture following an aerial challenge with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as both players vied for a cross. The Argentina international received extensive medical attention on the field for more than eight minutes before being carefully removed from the pitch on a stretcher and transported to a waiting ambulance.
Following his surgery, Martinez provided an update to his followers on Instagram, sharing a photograph of himself from his hospital bed. He captioned the post, saying, “Thank you for all the messages, the operation went well.” He also offered a positive outlook on his return, adding, “We’ll be back in a few weeks.”
Immediately after the match, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso had indicated that Martinez was taken to the hospital primarily for “precautionary tests.” A statement released by Chelsea Football Club reiterated the situation: “Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has undergone successful surgery on a fractured jaw. Everyone at Chelsea wishes Emi a speedy recovery and will support him throughout.”
