The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 45-year-old individual, Adeyemo Mukaila, in connection with the defilement of his friend's granddaughter. DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the command's spokesperson, released a statement on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, detailing the incident and the apprehension of the suspect.

According to Ojelabi, Adeyemo Mukaila, who was known to the victim's family as a friend to her grandmother and a frequent visitor, was caught by members of the public while allegedly defiling the victim in a bush. The statement further revealed that this was not the first instance of such an act.

In September 2026, Mukaila reportedly called the victim to his residence under the guise of sending her on an errand. Upon her arrival, he allegedly forced her into his room and s*xually assaulted her. The second incident occurred on October 2, 2026, which was the victim's birthday. After she informed Mukaila of her birthday and requested a gift, he gave her one thousand naira (N1,000.00k). He then asked for a gift in return, prompting the victim to purchase some biscuits which she took to his workshop in the Ilupeju area of Ikire.

It was at this location that the suspect allegedly dragged the victim into a nearby bush and defiled her again. Members of the public witnessed the act, causing Mukaila to flee into the bush. However, passersby quickly followed the victim, who explained what had transpired. They then pursued the suspect, apprehended him, and handed him over to the police.

In light of the incident, the Osun State Police Command has urged the public, particularly parents, to maintain vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities or criminal behaviour to the nearest police station or through official police emergency channels.
