Full Story
The Oyo State Police Command has successfully dismantled an alleged human trafficking operation within Ibadan, leading to the liberation of five Congolese citizens. Authorities are currently conducting a manhunt for a suspect from the Benin Republic believed to be a key figure in the illicit network.
An official statement released by the police detailed that an operation to apprehend the suspect at a hotel proved unfruitful, as he was not present at the location. The command has, however, assured the public that "efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him."
Upon their rescue, the victims were immediately provided with medical attention and underwent comprehensive examinations to assess their health and well-being. The Commissioner of Police has since directed that these rescued individuals be transferred to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, for "necessary action in accordance with established procedures."
The Oyo State Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to combating human trafficking and safeguarding vulnerable persons across the state. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to provide credible and actionable intelligence that could assist in identifying and arresting those linked to this suspected trafficking ring.
