The troops mounted a swift and robust counter-offensive, which effectively forced the attackers to retreat. Following the encounter, four bodies of the insurgents were discovered at the site, with further exploitation operations underway to ascertain the total number of casualties suffered by the terr*rists. Regrettably, five soldiers sustained injuries during the fierce gun battle.
“Troops of Sector 4, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terr*rists on Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garaha in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, neutralising six terr*rists and recovering a substantial cache of arms, ammunition and other combat equipment,” the official statement read.
It further elaborated that the terr*rists, who approached on foot from the LAR axis, launched their offensive at approximately 9:07 pm, aiming to overrun the military position. However, the troops responded with superior firepower and well-coordinated tactics, decisively repelling the assault and compelling the terr*rists to withdraw. The recovered items from the scene included one PKT machine gun with three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles, 11 AK-47 magazines, 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one 60mm mortar bomb.
