Full Story
A wave of apprehension has swept through the online community following the emergence of Facebook posts, purportedly from individuals identifying as 'Yoruba patriots,' which reportedly contain calls for violence targeting Igbo residents across Yorubaland. Screenshots circulating online appear to corroborate these allegations of anti-Igbo incitement, prompting widespread concern.
Among the various posts, one attributed to a user named Temmy Okanlomo describes Yoruba conservatives as the prospective leaders of southwestern politics. This particular post reportedly advocates for strategies to subdue Igbo people by targeting all aspects associated with them. Other comments captured in the screenshots allegedly include threats directed at Igbo-owned businesses and shops, alongside suggestions to compel Igbo individuals to vacate the region.
These alarming online discussions have surfaced amidst distressing reports concerning the tragic killing of an Igbo family. Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife, and their four children, including a 5-year-old, were reportedly murdered in Oloba Village, Lagelu, Ibadan, on September 22, 2026. Authorities in Oyo State have since apprehended three individuals – Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo, and Padonu Edward – in connection with the incident.
Police investigations indicate that the victims were bound before being thrown into a river. While the remains of the wife have reportedly been recovered, the other family members, including Ifeanyi Chukwu and their four children, remain missing.
