Reality TV star Cross Okonkwo, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, recently voiced his frustration over insecurity in Lagos after his vehicle was vandalized by a street beggar in Lekki. The incident occurred in Ikate, Lekki, Lagos State, when Cross encountered a persistent beggar while driving.
According to the star, he was approached by an individual begging for money. After Cross chose to ignore the man's repeated pleas, the individual reportedly retaliated by forcefully tearing off the windshield seal from Cross's car before fleeing the scene. Cross immediately exited his vehicle and attempted to pursue the assailant but was unsuccessful in catching him.
Visibly shaken and angered by the experience, Cross began recording the damage to his car. In the video, he expressed profound disappointment and concern over the rising menace posed by street beggars and thugs in the city. "In Nigeria, you're not safe in your own country," he stated emphatically. He further questioned the authorities, remarking, "This Lagos, I don't understand why you guys are allowing thugs to be on the street mhen. This is unfair."
The BBNaija alumnus remained at the scene, appearing distraught and searching for the culprit. While other street boys gathered around, seemingly offering to assist in finding the thief, their efforts proved unhelpful. The incident highlights growing concerns among residents regarding public safety and the prevalence of street crime in affluent areas like Lekki.
